Senior Sun/Solaris technical resource for a team of Unix System Administrators responsible for all aspects of Unix Support for BA Merchant Services in Louisville, KY. Responsibilities include: design, implementation and support of complex systems; information security; performance tuning; problem determination and resolution; hardware and software installation; user administration and documentation.

• Provide 24x7x365 on-call support for 100+ UNIX servers running a variety of operating systems (Solaris/SPARC, Solaris/x86, AIX/RS6000, FreeBSD/x86 and Linux/x86) in multiple production environments with SLAs ranging from 99.99% to 99.9999% availability.

• Primary Unix resource responsible for the hardware and operating system selection, installation and configuration for several major initiatives – including the complete migration of a production/development environment in 6 weeks from Oracle 9i on AIX/RS6000 to an Oracle 10g grid on Solaris/SPARC without loss of transactions or data.

• Participate in Bank of America transition projects – asset inventory; vendor contract support; implementation of standard tools and processes; migration from legacy, non-standard systems; and corporate information security compliance.

• Designed and implemented a new split horizon DNS infrastructure utilizing BIND 9 on redundant Solaris/SPARC servers and Windows DNS Server on Microsoft Windows.

• Received several awards for role in design and implementation of the first Oracle 10g grid environments in Bank of America.

Member of a team responsible for all aspects of Unix Server Support for the NASA ODIN contract at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. Responsibilities included: hardware and software installation; upgrades of servers and workstations; diagnostics and support of complex systems and problems; information security; user administration; and documentation.

• Directly responsible for approximately 30 UNIX servers running a mix of operating systems (Red Hat Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, IRIX and OSF/1) on a variety of hardware platforms.

• Responsible for all daily administration tasks in the E-Business environment including the installation, configuration and on-going support of high-end, load-balanced web servers and high availability clustered database servers.

• Tasked with the enforcement of IBM and customer security and business policies including the development and implementation of documentation, standards, tools and methodologies for customer accounts and the common server farm environment.

PERSONAL PROJECTS

Started and ran my own company, Seventh Floor Communications, from 1997 through 2001 providing Website Design and Virtual Hosting for approximately 15 small business and non-profit clients. Websites included: albatrozbloodstock.com, susfran.com, kiyojuteryu.org, kyscottishweekend.org, and ruthsebastian.com. Also supported other facets of the associated domains including: name services, e-mail and mailing lists.

Served as the Moderator for the Website Design and Critique Forum on E-Budo.com from June 2000 through July 2001.

Assembled and have maintained a personal switched TCP/IP network since 1997, accessible via the Internet as the domains maney.org and seventhfloor.com. Personal network includes multiple versions of Unix on various architectures as well as Microsoft/x86 clients and printers.
